Pastors Beaten by Militants in Andra Pradesh

Story courtesy of Voice of the Martyr’s

On April 14, three pastors-who were distributing Christian tracts to children in the town of Devarkonda, Andra Pradesh-were beaten with sticks by approximately 50 Hindu militants. Pastor John Kumar’s hand was broken and the other two pastors were severely injured in the attack. Pray for healing for these believers. Ask God to give them and other church leaders in India the wisdom to know how to shepherd the believers through times of suffering. James 1:5, Psalm 91

    Serves them bloody well right.
    Why?
Because “christian” missionaries are, and always were, agents of Western cultural imperialism.
They are, and were not, bringing “jesus” to their victimes, but only themselves and the essentially benighted godless Western “culture” that they come from.

And besides which who are the militants?
Who gets to call who a militant?
The Hindu’s know very well what happens to their culture, even with all of its undesirable features, when self-righteous, and self possessed “christian” god-botheres appear on the scene.

And dont “righteous” christians such as you upset with the growth of non-christian religions in your own back yard.

And really in 2008 what has your quote from the Bible got to do with anything?
Why and how is the quote from someone we know absolutely nothing about, and who was at the time a member of a small messianic cult in Palestine (or wherever), binding on the entire world?
Especially when we live in a time when all of the Sacred Scriptures of the entire Great Tradition of Humankind are freely available to anyone with an internet connection.

Such “only one way” hubristic arrogance/ignorance is just that: pig-headed ignorance.

Meanwhile look at the collective lunatic asylum called “christian” America that you live in. An enormouly wealthy country which cant even provide decent medical care for tens of millions of its citizens, and the economy of which is dominated by the “values” of the Pentagon military-industrial-entertaiment complex. A society on the brink of massive. social breakdown

    Sue,

First off thanks for your input. I know we disagree on these issues, but I am glad that you took the time to share your opinion.

I don’t believe that it “serves them bloody right” by any means. Regardless if they were “agents of Western cultural imperialism” it doesn’t mean they should be beaten. I don’t think that them passing out pieces of paper, tracts, gives anyone reason to attack them. The term “militants” in this case referred to them because of their aggression towards the christians. Regardless of what you think not all christians in America are “lunatics”. We don’t all hold the domineering view of Christ as some christians do. I believe that sharing the gospel isn’t supposed to be forced on anyone, but rather out of love. The reason we share isn’t to bring anyone into submission to the church, but rather share something beautiful and amazing that we are experiencing in our own lives. We don’t always do it the right way, but again that is no justification to beat anyone.

The verses quoted were to encourage people to pray for wisdom in how to deal with these situations. It would be easy for the pastors to be bitter against the Hindu people, but God can help them forgive even though they probably don’t apologize. And we do know a good amount about James and David who wrote those verses. Those verses are only bound to christians, not the “entire world”.

You can’t blame the citizens of the US for the bad health insurance and other problems we have. I don’t like the health system anymore than the next person, but it is the place I live. That doesn’t mean I support it.

Anyway, thanks for your input and we will pray that God will richly bless you and your family. :-)
