article…

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

A few months ago Drew asked me to write an article for a Student Life newsletter that they were creating. Well I’m excited to tell you the newsletter finally came out. It may not seem like that big of a deal, but I guess this newsletter goes out all over the United States, so it is a big deal to me! heh If you want to check it out click here. My article is called “Choices”, so that should help you find it. I’m pretty proud of what God is doing in my heart. He is always faithful and trustworthy. I am so glad that I have the Holy Spirit to guide me into all truth. Thank you for this article Holy Spirit.

Thanks everyone!

I’m back!!

Monday, August 11th, 2008

After a month or so since my last post I’m back! I am currently bloggin on another site as well, so if you want to check it out feel free. The blog is about two other guys and myself on a 40 day solid food fast. This isn’t about bragging or trying to get attention. We want people to be inspired about what God can do when we dedicate ourselves to Him. So far I have been fasting for 4 days, and God has already done amazing things. I can’t wait to see what develops, but check out the site…  FastEnough

On to other things…

This is my son, Bonsai, who is a Jack Russell. Some of you may know him, but I thought this video was too funny not to share. Sorry there is no audio, but you can pretend your own special effects! Watermelon vs. Bonsai

Enjoy!

Hungry or not?

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.

Hunger. A hungry person will go ridiculous measures for food. Hunger overpowers all other desires. Hungry people are healthy people. A person who is not hungry is either sick, on drugs, or eating junk food.

Are you hungry for God? Sometimes I feel strange because I am hungry. I want to see more of God. I want to see a church captivated by Christ. I guess I am also hungry for his signs and wonders- the God we have all read about. If you are hungry too, Jesus says that’s awesome because hey you will be filled.

What if you are not hungry? When I was younger there were foods that I didn’t like. But my mom would have me try them anyway. I didn’t like cheese but my mom wouldn’t let me have desert until I ate my potatoes. And guess what? Now I like cheese and pizzas are great. This same principle is true with our hunger for the things of God. One way to build a hunger for God is to be with him even when we don’t feel like it. Same with the scriptures. Another thing that builds hunger is to exercise. If you put into practice what you are learning your appetite will also increase.

Curiosity

People

Today, my curiosity seems to have gotten the best of me. I am a naturally curious person. I love to think about things deeply and can do it for hours. I love to notice the small things in life because I often think that those things are the most beautiful. The way that rain falls and forms droplets on a glass or the way that plants bury themselves in the dirt to display such beauty captivates my attention. I get lost in the little things.

So, today I spent a lot of time contemplating people. I notice how people interact with each other. I love how they can argue, yell, smile, kiss, or even just walk and show emotions. I often wonder how much goes unnoticed. I mean seriously do we pay attention to people or just ourselves? A lot of times I only see people watching over their own lives and forget that there are other people in the world. I think that is one faults of this generation. We care more about ourselves than blessing and sharing our lives with others. My curiosity is going to be led to find the beauty in selflessness. I want to view unselfish acts of love by complete strangers. I think that we will really be able to love each other in a deeper way if we can open our eyes and look beyond ourselves. Maybe you should try today?

Pastors Beaten by Militants in Andra Pradesh

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Story courtesy of Voice of the Martyr’s

On April 14, three pastors-who were distributing Christian tracts to children in the town of Devarkonda, Andra Pradesh-were beaten with sticks by approximately 50 Hindu militants. Pastor John Kumar’s hand was broken and the other two pastors were severely injured in the attack. Pray for healing for these believers. Ask God to give them and other church leaders in India the wisdom to know how to shepherd the believers through times of suffering. James 1:5, Psalm 91

Christians Killed in Ethiopia

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Story courtesy of Voice of the Martyr’s

On March 3, Muslim militants killed at least two Christians and wounded dozens in Nensabo town southeast of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. According to The Voice of the Martyrs contacts and reports from International Christian Concern, militants attacked Christians, including women and children, while they were attending a worship service. According to reports, “Eight of the wounded have been taken to the town of Awassa for hospitalization, while others with serious injuries were taken to Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa. Among the wounded were a police officer and a Christian whose hand was cut off by the attackers.” Reports indicated that the attack was part of a plan by Muslim militants, influenced by the spread of Wahhabism, in the area to wipe out Christians from the Muslim-dominated region. Pray for those mourning deceased believers. Ask God to comfort them. Pray God will protect and guide believers in Ethiopia facing harsh conditions.  1 Corinthians 15:50-58
